Tare Mass
The weight of an additional steer axle and its linkages with a twin steer, and the need to reinforce the chassis because of the extra load that has to be transferred to the twin steer group means that a twin steer prime mover will be 0.6 – 1.4 tonnes heavier than the tridrive prime mover.
|
Payload
Due to the reduced Tare Mass gained by fitting the Haire Complete Tri Axle Suspension the payload can be increased by 1.1 – 1.9 tonnes as compared to a twin steer.
Turning Circle
With the Haire designed tri-group turning circle will be virtually the same as that achieved by a tandem drive primemover with the same wheelbase. Existing vehicles with a wheelbase of around 4.8 metres have turning circles as low as 15.4m. Note Actual turning circle depends on; wheel base, steering lock, axle spread, tandem spread
Maintenance
The maintenance costs associated with fitting a third drive group axle are much less than those associated with a twin steer axle group. We believe the maintenance costs could be as much as half of that for any other suspension. As an added bonus, you will find the only wearing suspension parts are shock absorbers and spring eye bushes. You will also reap all the benefits from the Haire Suspension Kit - reduced tyre rotation, reduced tyre skipping & scolloping, increased traction (see the 'Improvements Cost Savings' page for a full list of benefits).
Don't think because you have a tri you have to run a tri all the time, with the Haire optional extra lift kit, you can run as a tandem when empty or under 16 tonne. That's one less wheel on the road, that means more cost savings
Traction and braking
The Haire Suspension Kit ensures that the drive axles load share while travelling. As a result both traction and braking are much better than for other air suspended drive axle groups. You should find that the Haire Tri will pull out of logging landings with 51 tonne gross mass as well or better than a standard tandem drive combination at 45.5 tonnes.
Options
Fitting of a lift axle, control valves and a sliding turntable at an additional cost can allow the Haire Tri to run as a tandem when empty or below 16 tonnes.
